Once you’re a Marine, you’re always a Marine

My father would tell me this as he pointed to an old green tattoo of a globe with an eagle standing on it, placed smartly on his right forearm. I never understood the significance of this until recently; and now it makes perfect sense.

I carried on this military lineage of Marines, and now 4 years removed from active duty, I can honestly say that the old cliché holds firm. You can never forget the experiences that take place throughout the theaters of the world. The people, places, and events that I have encountered have so changed me, that I can never be the same; forever changed, forever a Marine.
